The much anticipated “State of the Republic Concert” which was billed to bring Sean Kingston and Fat Joe to Ghana had its fair share of drama, the stuff Hollywood movies are made of. It almost became the “State of Confusion Concert” when organizers were plunged into a state of uncertainty and rescheduling. Sean Kingston pulled out at the last minute apparently because his mum advised him against taking the recommended yellow fever shot before going to Ghana. What a big mama’s boy! But I reckon that the chubby superstar is really afraid of needles because frankly he could have gone against his mum and then later sing ‘Dry Your Eyes’ for his mother. LOL! » Read more…

What a heading huh? Yeah I know! But after listening to Dare Art-Alade’s “Carry Dey Go” featuring 2Face Idibia, I am convinced that he will finally get out of the dangerous purgatory zone, where brilliant artists continue to release good singles but are never able to generate the right buzz that reflects their talent. After Dare’s impressive showing at Project Fame (Africa’s version of the UK hit reality series, Fame Academy), Africa was literally under his feet for the taking. » Read more…

The fashion world turned its eyes on Ghana from June 27 to July, when Exopa Model Agency hosted its first ever Ghana Fashion Week. The glitz and glamour of high fashion came into full glare as several talented up-and-coming African fashion designers showcased their creativity and unique sense of fashion.

There were three separate fashion shows at various venues in Accra. Nigeria’s 2004 Fashion Designer of the year winner, Adebayo Adegbe of Modela Couture literally dazzled audiences with his uniquely golden collections. His love for shimmering material reflected in his collection. Kumi Bespoke also proved that he wasn’t a protégée of ace Ghanaian/British designer, Ozwald Boateng for nothing.
