Smooth highlife crooner, Kwabena Kwabena joined a list of young and talented musicians at the Miss Legon 2008 beauty pageant. His little “unplugged” session with his guitar was simply a breath of fresh air and a marvellous sight to behold. His romantic lyrics sipped down into the souls of his audience, seducing the female members of the crowd to go over the moon. It became clear that the pageant was going to be one to relish. The pageant also included pulsating performances by some young and energetic Ghanaian musicians like Praye, Kwabena Kwabena, 4×4, and Tinny.

dsc_0221.JPG

Ghana is quite a religious country and it is not surprising that gospel music is the fastest selling music genre in the country. With each year, there are more gospel releases than any other genre but when it comes to the Ghana Music Awards, a people’s choice award, hip life and highlife artistes often take home the big prize. Can Ohenema Mercy turn the tides this year? It certainly would not be easy for her even within the gospel categories because she faces stiff competition from Cee, another gospel artist who had a very good year. Cee has 5 nominations.

According to reports, Big Brother Africa 2 winner, Richard, and his former housemate, Meryl, are shooting a movie for Nollywood. Well this wouldn’t be the first time an ex-housemate tried to cross over into acting. Although most of them spent days playing to the cameras in the Big Brother House, former BBA housemate, Abby’s failed attempts at acting should be evidence that the transition is not necessarily a piece of cake.
