A Glitzy Ghana Fashion Week
The fashion world turned its eyes on Ghana from June 27 to July, when Exopa Model Agency hosted its first ever Ghana Fashion Week. The glitz and glamour of high fashion came into full glare as several talented up-and-coming African fashion designers showcased their creativity and unique sense of fashion.
There were three separate fashion shows at various venues in Accra. These runway shows sparkled with style, elegance, and some eccentrics as world-class models from Exopa Model Agency showcased the amazing ready-to-wear couture from Ghanaian designers such as Ama-Nua Williams, Patrick of House Eccentric and Clara Lawson. Nigeria’s 2004 Fashion Designer of the year winner, Adebayo Adegbe of Modela Couture literally dazzled audiences with his uniquely golden collections. His love for shimmering material reflected in his collection. Kumi Bespoke also proved that he wasn’t a protégée of ace Ghanaian/British designer, Ozwald Boateng for nothing. He showcased a highly impressive range of men suits tailored to suit the desire of any man who knows his fashion. Allan David, Titi Ademola, Gille Toure, » Read more…

Azumah Vs. Fenech III
When I saw Rocky Balboa, I thought that such geriatric exhibition matches only exist in Hollywood but boy was I wrong! It seems almost anything is possible in boxing these days. And the return of two of the game’s former great into the rings is one that takes some believing. Africa’s only boxing hall of famer, Azumah Nelson ‘The professor’ due to his vast knowledge of the art of boxing, is legend number one. While Australia’s once tough-as-nails Jeff Fenech ‘The Thunder from Down Under’ is legend number two.
Ghanaians Bid Farewell to an Entertainment Icon
Scores of friends, fans and family of the late Kwame Owusu Ansah said their final farewells to the entertainment impresario over the weekend. The popular Ghanaian actor, who died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after his involvement in a motor accident on May 1, was buried at the Osu Cemetery after a burial service was held for him at the Holy Spirit Cathedral on Saturday, June 14.
Kwaw Kesse Turns Model
Kwaw Kesse, 2008 Ghana Music Award artist of the year, has signed up as a model at Ghana’s leading modelling agency, Exopa. This really isn’t much of a surprise as the ‘crazy’ hiplife artist has proven time and again that he is capable of doing almost anything. Kwaw has always dressed to suit to occasion and nothing says ‘model behaviour’ more than that. During a Christmas show, he showed up dressed as Santa Clause with a bag of goodies for his audience and during the CAN 2008 tournament; he performed in a football jersey and a football. Kwaw doesn’t just dress for the occasion but also comes with the right accessories. LOL!
Redefining Beauty to Promote National Unity
Sarah Adoley Addo has been crowned as ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful’ after a night of keen competition and a display of rich Ghanaian cultures at the National Theatre, Accra. The beautiful young native of Accra garnered the most support throughout the competition and it was not surprising that she emerged the ultimate winner. For her prize, she won a Tata Indigo Car, 3,000 cedis, and other prizes from sponsors. She will also have a Tata Safari at her disposal for official duties.
“Ghana’s Most Beautiful” under the theme, “Redefining Beauty to Promote National Unity” is a unique beauty contest designed to portray the rich cultures of people living within all 10 regions of Ghana. After stern auditions across the Northern and Southern zones of Ghana, ten beautiful young ladies were selected as the most suitable and knowledgeable to represent their various regions of origin. They were Sarah Adoley Addo (Greater Accra), Mavis Eyram Dotse (Volta Region), Fanny Aggrey Finn Amissah (Central Region) and Yakuba Ruweida (Northern Region), Mroh Louisa Efua Baawa (Western Region), Dauda Fawzia (Upper West). Ghana and Egypt faceoff for a spot in Manchester United Premier Cup
Two of the best under-15 football teams from Africa will be in Hilversum, the Netherlands to compete in the Premier Cup African Qualification Tournament, sponsored by Nike on June 15. The teams, Right to Dream Football Academy (Ghana) and ENPPI (Egypt) will be playing to book their spot in the World Finals of the Manchester United Premier Cup in Manchester later this year.
Last Man Standing
In a very unlikely turn of events, there are now two ladies and just one gentleman remaining in the Apprentice Africa reality TV show. When the competition started some three months ago, the members of the female team, Matrix Corp were falling out week in, week out. But due to subsequent reshuffling and mixing ups, some of the ladies found winning ways in their new teams.
2face/R. Kelly Collabo Ready
This has been buzzing for a while but it can be now confirmed that the much anticipated collaboration between the King of R&B and the Nigerian Hip-Hop/R&B sensation is done and ready. This is a dream come true for 2Face and of course his numerous fans across the globe and it seems that there is no stopping him.
