Ocean Sole – Flipflops into art

Smithsonian Folklife Festival features Kenya

This year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival will focus on Kenya and China.

The Kenyan portion of the Festival will take place in June and July 2014.  Details about the actual dates, and the schedule of events will be released in June.  They currently have a music playlist that is a great introduction to the different styles of music there are in Kenya.

The Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) will be held June 14 – 22, 2014.

This extremely popular international film festival is now in its 17th year.  It will open with the Oscar nominated film ‘Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom‘.  79 films will be screened over 10 days and will consist of films from 35 countries (38 short films, 23 feature length films and 18 documentaries).
