Estelle is back!  She is busy running around attending events around the country.  I don’t know anyone who works as hard as she does.

Idris Elba is having a stellar year already.  His new movie ‘Obsessed‘, filmed with Beyonce Knowles, was the highest grossing film taking in $28.5 million in ticket sales for Sony Corporation.  It beat ‘Mean Girls‘ for the for the best last-April-weekend opening ever.  He was also sighted at a pre-draft party with Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan, and at the British Academy Television Awards. » Read more…

I had my primary education in the United Kingdom ( Blackpool), secondary school at the Nigerian Military school and University at ABU both in Zaria, where I graduated with a degree in Law. There are lots of rumors and speculation following media reception invites circulated late last week by MTV Networks Africa, and leading mobile phone operator, Zain.   Selected individuals representing government, tourism, media and entertainment in Kenya, will attend a much anticipated, exclusive, media reception on Wednesday 15 April at the Blue Times Lounge in Nairobi, where its promised that “the Date, City and Venue for this year’s glittering ceremony,” the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA), will be revealed.

Sheg Youngest Leader in Ebony Magazine Feature

Sheg impressed many with his appearance as a top finalist in Oprah’s show, ‘The Big Give’.  He has been a leader who is making waves in significant ways for those around him.  His book, iActuate, has sold very well, impressing those who read it to go out and do something. His organization, The Aranmolate Foundation, provides surgeries and check-ups in African countries for children who suffer from cleft palates, burns, scars and other congenital deformities, as well as training for medical personnel who perform the procedures.

ShegIt is no wonder that Ebony magazine decided to pick him for their April 2009 feature, ‘21 young leaders under 30′.  He is the youngest person on the panel. » Read more…

Youssou Ndour: ‘I Bring What I Love’ at FilmFest DC

FilmFest DC is holding an International Film Festival that will highlight film gems from around the world.  The festival, taking place from April 16 – 26, 2009, will be held in Washington DC at various locations.  One of the African films to be featured will be Youssou N’dour’s movie, ‘I Bring What I Love’.

At the beginning of this decade, Youssou N’Dour, the “golden-voiced” Senegalese singer-songwriter conceived an album that would express his vision of Islam. Directed by Chai Vasarhelyi, this revealing documentary details the making of Youssou N’Dour’s gorgeous 2004 CD “Egypt” and the reaction to it. » Read more…

Fly KLM and Get A Taste Of Africa

Talk about incentive to fly!  KLM has announced that during the months of April and May they will be hosting an onboard food and wine festival called the ‘African Experience’.   Check-in desks at Schiphol will feature a touch of Africa and the festival will also be celebrated in KLM lounges. A conservation project in Kenya will also be the spotlighted.

“We have chosen Africa as a theme because the continent is so inspirational. This is exemplified by the immense cultural diversity and the many different types of cuisine, as well as the excellent wines for which South Africa is renowned,” explains Bart Vos, executive vice president of KLM Inflight Services. “Furthermore, Africa is an important market within the KLM network.” » Read more…

US R&B superstar, Lloyd has treated Ghanaian fans to a special performance. The Atlanta R&B sensation performed a few of his hit songs including ‘You‘ , ‘South Side’, ‘Get it Shawty‘ and ‘Girls Around the World‘ to rousing cheers especially from female fans.
