Jossy out in Big Brother Africa Amplified

Written by Shirlene Alusa-Brown | May 16, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Well, the musical relationships have started. Ernest and Bhoke had a good thing going (or at least that is what he thought) but she made it clear (after throwing herself at him shamelessly, previously) that she was a little concerned about perceptions and wanted to know where he stood and how he felt about her.  Hmmm….that didn’t go down very well.

Written by Staff Writer | May 13, 2011 | Leave a Comment

The Vuyani Dance Theater (VDT) Project has garnered international recognition, thanks to it’s Founder/Artistic Director, Gregory Maqoma.    The website states that VDT is meeting “its artistic objective of producing work that questions and challenges social values while, simultaneously, exploiting history as a launch pad for (material) research and development.”  A deep undertaking indeed for an entertainment company.

Big Brother Africa Amplified – who are the players?

Written by Staff Writer | May 11, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Big Brother Amplified(BBA) has a lot of interesting characters in the house this year.   Of course, as with every Big Brother show, the catty side of people comes out and is revealed in live splendor. Add to the mix the fact that the group was split into two random teams and each team is competing to win a $200,000 grand prize and you will have some serious in-fighting.  Oh, reality joy!!  The two teams are named ‘Heads’ and ‘Tails’.

Namibian singer EES, and South African rap sensation, AKA helped break the tension somewhat as people waited with bated breath to see what would transpire.  Amplified Crew danced while Busta Rhymes performed and helped build the excitement for the show.  You can follow the BBA updates on Twitter and Facebook. DStv viewers can press the OK button on their DStv remote (on Channel 198) to get updated news and information from the Big Brother Amplified house.  They can also use this option to choose between two different television feeds from inside the houses.

Well, we are on the Forbes Top 10 Supermodel list…..well, maybe not us, but an African is! Candice Swanepoel of South Africa is featured on the top 10 Supermodel list. She was on the list as one of the models who has made the most from May 2010 to the present with a total of $3 million dollars.  Congratulations Candice, it is difficult to remain an important part of the scene in this cutthroat market so the recognition is well-deserved.

Pierre Kayitana, coordinator of the Rwanda Cinema Center was at a reception for ‘Films Without Borders‘ where he got an audience with a Prince…..Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex. ‘Films without Borders’ aspires to inspire young people, between 15-18 years of age, to produce their own first subtitled “short” film by training them in the first stages of film production.
