The latest Coca-Cola ad for Africa is a beautiful one, highlighting the kindness that people around Africa are doing. The ad begins by saying that “If being kind to strangers is crazy, then Africa is the craziest place on earth.”
Gabourey Sidibey to host AfroPop Public TV series
Well, Gabourey Sidibe is not content to rest on her laurels since her phenomenal success in the movies, “Precious” and “Tower Heist“. She is now the new host of a television series “AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange”, an innovative documentary series highlighting contemporary life, art and pop culture in the African Diaspora.

Documentary highlights slavery in U.N. Camp
In their startling and eye-opening documentary, directors Violeta Ayala and Dan Fallshaw take viewers on a journey to a land of vast deserts and even bigger secrets. Their film, Stolen, which captures a land at the juncture of politics, nationality, and race, premieres on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:00 pm ET (6:00 pm CT, 4:00 pm PT) as part of season five of the “AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange”. The series is hosted by actress Gabourey Sidibe on public television’s WORLD channel and produced by Black Public Media.

People who are die-hard YouTube fans have come across the ridiculously hilarious vlogs titled ‘What’s Up Africa’ or WUA# by Ikenna Azuike. The vlogs take a hit on the current happenings in Africa and give them a funny twist. That combined with the silly/funny personality of Ikenna is bound to make this a channel to easily subscribe to, to get more. This made me curious as to the man behind them, to learn more about him and what inspired the show. Luckily he turned out a good support and was excited to give Jamati an insight behind the man and the vlog.

First Annual East African Music Awards highlight East African genres and talent
The first annual East Africa Music Awards (EMAs) was created to celebrate the different genres of music of the East African region, and reward homegrown talent. The genres that will be recognized include: Rhumba, Contemporary Gospel, Hip Hop, and Taarab, among many others. The ceremony celebrates music from the entire East African region: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MTV looking for talent for production of ‘Shuga: Love, Sex, Money’
In response to the overwhelmingly positive response to ‘Shuga’, a show about how our life choices can have serious consequences and lead to AIDS, MTV Staying Alive is preparing to produce a second show, ‘Shuga: Love, Sex, Money’. They have teamed up with the National Youth Talent Academy to search for talented young Kenyans to take part in its production.

Well, the musical relationships have started. Ernest and Bhoke had a good thing going (or at least that is what he thought) but she made it clear (after throwing herself at him shamelessly, previously) that she was a little concerned about perceptions and wanted to know where he stood and how he felt about her.
