MTV Makes a Last Call for Music Videos for 2009 MAMA with Zain
Zain Kenya, with participation from MTV Networks Africa, held an informal workshop at The Loft in Nairobi to give the low down on the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA with Zain), to be held 10 October at Indoor Arena, Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani, Nairobi.
Hip Hop World Awards winner
The Hip Hop World magazine held its annual music awards to honor the top achievers in the Nigerian music industry on Saturday, May 16 at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

Mokobe Wins Big at Mali Hip Hop Awards
More victory and success for Mokobe from 113 ! Mokobe became the first rapper to be honored at the Mali Hip Hop Awards held in Bamako, Mali on January 14 2009. His Excellencey, Sir Amadou Tomani Toure, president of Mali, gave him the ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mali‘ and congratulated him, wishing him great success in his career. Mokobe was awarded the Ambassador Of Hip Hop and Best International Artist Of The Year awards.
His first album, “Mon Afrique” has officially been available in Mali since January 4th 2008. adventure.
Mokobe said in his acceptance speech, “I am really happy to get acknowledgment and support among my people, those artists from my home country that are trying to make music from Mali go forward and get to another level by showing that we can also have our own awards. There are lots of rumors and speculation following media reception invites circulated late last week by MTV Networks Africa, and leading mobile phone operator, Zain. Selected individuals representing government, tourism, media and entertainment in Kenya, will attend a much anticipated, exclusive, media reception on Wednesday 15 April at the Blue Times Lounge in Nairobi, where its promised that “the Date, City and Venue for this year’s glittering ceremony,” the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA), will be revealed.
Lloyd storms Ghana with a lot of love
US R&B superstar, Lloyd has treated Ghanaian fans to a special performance. The Atlanta R&B sensation performed a few of his hit songs including ‘You‘ , ‘South Side’, ‘Get it Shawty‘ and ‘Girls Around the World‘ to rousing cheers especially from female fans.

Okyeame Kwame, Praye and Others shine at 10th Ghana Music Awards
After endless speculations, criticisms, and a long wait, the 10th edition of the annual Ghana Music Awards was finally held last Saturday at the Dome of the Accra Conference Center to a sold-out audience. The biggest ceremony saw Okyeame Kwame winning the Artiste of the Year. 9ice Rocks Ghana to ‘Gongo Aso’
The multi-award winning Nigerian hip-hop artist 9ice on Saturday treated a limited audience at the Accra International Conference Center to an energetic performance in a gig dubbed ‘Ghana 9ice Concert’.
9ice, born Abolore Akande, has earned international recognition for his hit song, ‘Gongo Aso’, winning him the MOBO award for best African act in 2008, and a performance for Mandela at his 46664 Birthday Concert.
