Her father, a music professor and historian, helped ingrain a true love for music when he exposed her to opera, oratorio and the classical art song.  Her sultry, soulful sound reverberates with heart and passion.  Her jazz sometimes sounds almost operatic.  She has a Bachelor of Art degree in Music and began her serious music career in 1992.

Perola (born Jandira Sassingui) is a singer with a beautiful voice from Angola.

Perola has been singing since she was 7 years old. Her family moved to Namibia when she was 13 and then she went on to college in Windhoek, South Africa.  She recorded her first album, ‘Os Meus Sentimentos‘ in 2004 which officially launched her music career.  The album won her the 2004 Prize Radio Luanda award for Best Female Newcomer.  In 2005 she won the Kora Award for Best Female Artist of Southern Africa.
