Kora Awards will Revive Themselves in Nigeria
The Kora Awards took a 2 year hiatus to deal with logistical issues and other problems that had been impeding its success. A hue-and-cry ensued when it was suggested that the awards be done away altogether, as these awards are seen as a chance for Africans to vote for the artists that they feel most represent them and their musical culture. 50 Cent and Awilo Longomba are expected to perform at the awards this year.

The Rise and Rise of Samini
Samini without a doubt is one of the most consummate young African artists of our time. His refined tone and dashing looks have won him the hearts of many ladies across the continent. This has propelled his brand of dancehall rhythms infused with African beats to amazing heights and resulted in recognition across the globe. At the age of 26, he has won several Ghana Music Awards, a MOBO award for Best African Act in 2006, and at the just ended Hip Hop World Award, he clinched the award for Best African Artist. He is currently the music icon for MTN, the leading telecommunications company in Africa and the Middle East.
Brian McKnight Spreads Love in South Africa
Grammy nominated singer, song writer, arranger and producer, Brian McKnight best well known for his serenading love ballads like “Love of my life, Anytime, and Back at one“, graced the South African fans with his tour titled “The Love Night Tour“. The tour began on the 14th of March and will go on until the 19th of March in Johannesburg, Durban, and Capetown.

Our Babies’ Daddy
Nigerian music superstar, 2face Idibia without a doubt is one of the most noticeable African artists of recent times. His smooth lyrics and pretty boy looks makes him the desire of many young girls across the globe. According to reports in Nigeria, the young star has given in to the desires of the bevy of ladies who flock around him, while satisfying his own desires in the process. Now it appears he has bitten more than he can chew.
Three girls have informed him that they are carrying his babies, although 2face whose real name is Innocent Ujah Idiba is indifferent about their claims. Information has it that about late December, the first of the ladies informed him that she was pregnant but he never took it seriously. Late February, two others came up with similar stories. According to the story, 2face tried to persuade his baby mamas to be to get rid of the ‘unwanted’ pregnancies but the ladies refused. Maybe Mr Innocent isn’t all that innocent. Could the African Queen crooner be two-faced?

I will beat 2face
Olu Maintain has come out of the shadows to state his claim in the Nigerian hip-hop industry. His single, “Yahoozee” has been the surprise hit of the year and it making waves in other African countries as well. The controversies surrounding the single perhaps catapulted the song to this feat. Many people think that the song adores online swindling (or yahoozee as it is known in Nigeria), an activity some people say Olu partakes in. However Olu maintains that his song is about the yahoozee dance which dominates his music video.

Who Wins Nescafe African Revelation (NAR) 2008?
The 2008 edition of the hit music talent show, Nescafe African Revelation (NAR) promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable editions yet. This year’s competition has seen an increase in the number of participating countries. Regional and national competitions have already been held in the various participating countries and 8 incredibly talented young groups have emerged for the pan-African finale in Ivory Coast, on March 28.

African Footprint – Africa’s Version of Riverdance
African Footprint is a wonderful musical presentation of south african music with euro-centric music and dance. In 1999, 30 cast members were chosen from hundreds of hopefuls and trained to provide spectacular entertainment. Dubbed the ‘Riverdance of South Africa’, its soundtrack went gold in 2004. The show is exciting and interesting, and the cast has performed for Prince Charles, Nelson Mandela, the FIFA Annual World Congress, and several different world festivals.
