Music is a powerful tool that can be used to impact lives positively; and upcoming singer K’son hopes to use his ‘message songs’ to do just that. Born Kofi Hanson-Asiedu in Ghana, he relocated to the United Kingdom to live with his mother at the age of 8.

k'sonBlessed with a squeaky clean and sweet voice, music and singing came naturally to K’son. He began by singing chart songs in the playground and occasionally being asked to sing in front of class. However, he knew he had a future in music when he was once singing at his older sister’s house and heard the approving “ooh you can sing you know!” from his sister. Meet Disastrous, Ghanaian-Made but American Influenced

US based Ghanaian rapper, Disastrous, hopes to put Ghanaian music on the map with his forthcoming sophomore album, poignantly titled ‘Ghanaian-Made, American Influenced’. Born Edem Nigel Amedume in Accra, Ghana, Disastrous discovered his talent as early as age 8. Even before Reggie Rockstone, the Godfather of hiplife, had made a name for himself in the industry, young Disastrous was making a name for himself performing future hits out of Reggie’s demo. It is therefore not surprising that Reggie Rockstone remains to date, one of Disastrous’ biggest influences.

Salone JR aka Born Sierra Leonean: A Gem in your Midst

JR is a reggae singer/songwriter born in Sierra Leone and has been residing in the US since 1989. While attending high school, he joined a reggae band where he honed his skills. During a vacation to Sierra Leone in 2004, JR recorded two tracks “Rise Up Sa Lone” and “Gonna Miss You” featuring the Jungle Leaders, a talented group of guys with conscious reggae vibes. These two songs were featured on Jungle Leader’s “Same Soup” Album released in 2005.

Ronny O, a new blood for African hip-hop

Ron Orleans Binder, alias Ronny O, is a Canadian based Ghanaian rapper who knew that he was made for the rap game from the moment he listened to the ‘Ruff Ryders’ First Lady: Eve’ album, at age 14.

Born in the heart of the Bronx and later relocating to Toronto due to his parents separating, Ronny O was able to acquire and make sense of the hip-hop culture surrounding him, and has carefully harnessed his experiences into a unique talent that reflects the pain, hardships and good times in his life. After appearing on over 25 mixtapes, Ronny O is readying his debut album ‘Celebrity Status’. The first single off the album, yet to be titled ‘Lazer Light’ or ‘Bus Stop’ features Akon’s new artist Gypsy Stokes and promises to be one of the most-talked-about albums of 2009. loukidFrom the Garden City of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria comes Village Huut, a vibrant and dynamic music group made up of cousins Kenny Louis (Lou Kidd) and Stephen Onyibo (Decoy/ Kanscience). Bonded by their love and passion for music, the duo says they are on a quest to create music that blends traditional African music with contemporary Hip-Hop, and especially Reggae music.

Both artists have resided in Connecticut, United States, for the past four to five years where their musical proficiency has been harnessed and honed. Their goal is to take the Global music community by storm while staying true to their African, Caribbean, and American audience. Kae Sun continues to be one of the most conscious lyricists in today’s popcorn generation of musicians. His music and poetry is inspired by life and filled with the realities of today’s world. He recently made a lo-fi recording of a song on his upcoming record “Lion On A Leash“. The video has been receiving a lot of attention online because of its lyrical content. Asa – The Revelation/Revolution Of A Nigerian Soul
