Elga, Beauté du Cameroun

Elga est un jeune mannequin d’origine Camerounaise, qui a toujours été passionnée par la mode et la beauté. Elle vit actuellement à Paris, ou elle poursuit ses études. Elle a aussi été prise dans une agence de mannequins Parisiennes.

Son premier défilé a été pour Air France en Novembre 2007, lors de la célébration du 100ème anniversaire de la compagnie. Elle a également défilé pour Imane Ayissi en Mai 2008 à l’UNESCO et a eu l’occasion de porter ses créations issus de sa collection “African Queen”. Récemment, elle était sur le podium pour le défilé de la maison Lune Paris lors de leur présentation de leur collection printemps-été 2009.

Fashion For Peace 2009-Kofi Ansah

Le président de Fashion for Africa , le grand styliste et créateur ghanéen, Kofi Ansah a été célébré lors de l’événement Fashion for Peace 2009 . Auparavant basé à Londres, Ansah  a étudié le stylisme à Chelsea au Royaume-Uni et a obtenu un diplôme avec une mention spéciale.

Il a été un acteur majeur dans l’industrie de la mode Ghanaéene, le fondateur et ancien président de la Fédération des créateurs Africains, le créateur du tissu pour la célébration du “Ghana @ 50 Golden Jubilee” ainsi que celle des costumes pour la CAN 2008 Coupe d’Afrique des Nations. » Read more…

Fashion For Peace 2009 – Kofi Ansah

Fashion for Africa’s Chief Designer was celebrated Ghanian designer, Kofi Ansah. Formerly based in London, Ansah studied design at Chelsea in the United Kingdom and graduated with first class honors.

He has been a major player in the Ghanian fashion industry and is the founder and past president of the Federation of African Designers,  the fabric designer for the Ghana @50 Golden Jubilee Celebrations as well as costume designer for the CAN 2008 African Cup of Nations. » Read more…

Akon helped Radio 1 celebrate their big weekend.   Alek Wek was at a  show titled “The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion”, hosted by the Costume Institute Gala. 

Charlize Theron was spotted at the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Annual National Tribute Dinner. Amobi Okoye was spotted at the Kentucky Derby with Tom and Donna Joyner.  Interested in possibly looking fly, Kenna helped launch Carrera’s new line of sunglasses. » Read more…

Ida Ljungqvist Plaboy Playmate de l’année

Ida Ljungqvist, la Tanzanienne playmate du mois de Mars 2009 a été nommée Playboy de l’année par Hugh Hefner. Elle a été découverte dans une boutique de “Bebe” à Beverly Hills par la Playmate Playboy de l’année 2007, Sara Jean Underwood. Elle a marqué l’histoire en étant la 50ème personne du célèbre magazine à recevoir le titre, et d’etre la première Africaine à l’avoir aussi. Elle parle 3 langues (Anglais, Suédois et le Swahili) et elle a un diplome en fashion design et marketing.

Ida Ljungqvist Now Playboy Playmate of the Year

Ida Ljungqvist, the Tanzanian playmate for March 2009 was named Playboy Playmate of the Year by Hugh Hefner.  She was discovered at a Bebe clothing boutique in Beverly Hills by 2007 Playmate of the Year Sara Jean Underwood.  She made history as the magazine’s 50th woman to hold the title, and the first African to do so.  She is tri-lingual (English, Swedish, and Swahili), and has a degree in fashion design and marketing.

Capetown South Africa was treated to a wonderful performance by Linton Kwesi Johnson, a poet and musician.  Selfridges celebrated its 100th birthday and brought out the stars including actress Tolula Adeyemi.

There are many celebrities that have shown up at the Tribeca Film Festival to celebrate film.  Others were busy entertaining in their different fields, around the world.

Seal brought the house down at Radio City Music Hall in his inimitable style.  Suzanne ‘Africa’ Engo took some time out to catch a movie screening, while Mel B. lent her celebrity status to the Invisible Children organization to draw attention to the abduction of children in Uganda to force into the army. Filmmakers Ben Addelman and Samir Mallal (Discordia, Bombay Calling) showcase the Nigerian film industry in their first collaboration under their production company AM Pictures.

Nollywood Babylon is a documentary that details Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood, an industry whose impact stretches all through Africa as well as abroad. With over 2,000 films produced per year, Nollywood represents the third largest film industry in the world behind the United States and Indian film industries. Estelle is back!  She is busy running around attending events around the country.  I don’t know anyone who works as hard as she does.

Idris Elba is having a stellar year already.  His new movie ‘Obsessed‘, filmed with Beyonce Knowles, was the highest grossing film taking in $28.5 million in ticket sales for Sony Corporation.  It beat ‘Mean Girls‘ for the for the best last-April-weekend opening ever.  He was also sighted at a pre-draft party with Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan, and at the British Academy Television Awards. » Read more…

Voyager KLM et Obtenez un Goût de l’Afrique

Parlez d’une incitation pour voyager! KLM a annonçé que pendant les mois d’Avril et de Mai, ils vont organiser un festival à bord de vin et de cuisine appelé ” l’expérience Africaine.”   Les bureaux d’enregistrements à Schiphol mettront en évidence une touche de l’Afrique et le festival sera aussi célébré dans les salles d’attente de KLM. Un projet de conservation de la nature au Kenya sera aussi représenté.

“Nous avons choisi l’Afrique comme thème parce que le continent inspire beaucoup. Ceci est illustré par l’immense diversité culturelle et les différents types de cuisine, tout comme les excellents vins pour lesquels l’Afrique du Sud est connu,” a expliqué Bart Vos, exécutif vice-président de “KLM Inflight Services”.  ”De plus, l’Afrique est un marché important dans le réseau de KLM.” » Read more…
