We don’t often hear about players of color in ice hockey, and we hear even less about the ones who have African parentage. Here are some that we found.
They are quite easy on the eyes and have proven to be formidable on the ice.
Shola Ameobi returns after shattering his cheekbone
Newcastle striker, Shola Ameobi, will be playing with a mask while he continues to recover from a shattered cheekbone he suffered while playing against Fulham. The team had him get acclimated to the mask so that he could be comfortable playing with it.

Kolo Toure suspended after testing positive
It just goes to show that you have to be careful what you do as a player. I am sure that Kolo Toure didn’t think that a simple act like taking his wife’s diet pill (Some diet pills contain a stimulant called methylhexaneamine) would get him suspended by Manchester City. The suspension is pending a legal process where the league will determine whether he should face a warning or something as serious as a two-year ban. In the meantime he will take no part in first-team and reserve matches until the investigation is complete, and could miss rest of the season.
