Bekele Wins Sixth Championship, Shoeless…..Well Almost!
Kenenisa Bekele raced across the finish line to win the IAAF World Cross Country Championship for the sixth time. This beats the records set by Paul Tergat and Paul Ngugi who each have five victories under their belt. Bekele lost his shoe in the first five minutes of the race and had to put it back on. Young Freddy Adu is at it again, showing us why he went pro at such an early age. He scored the winning goal against Panama and helped launch the U.S. team into the group stage of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Although the U.S. appeared to be in control for most of the game, they couldn’t quite seem to get the ball into the goal.
