Olofinjana Signs for Prem Newboys Stoke
Premiership newcomers Stoke City have confirmed the signing of Nigeria international midfielder Seyi “George” Olofinjana on a $6 million deal from Wolverhampton FC. Muntari Completes Move to Italian Giants
Sulley Muntari has completed his move to Inter Milan from Portsmouth and has signed a four-year deal with the Italian champions. He also scored five goals in 33 appearances.
Man Utd. Edge Pompey 2-1 in Abuja
Fans of Premier League champions, Manchester United, watched the Red Devils end their tour of Africa with a win over Premier League rivals, Portsmouth, in Nigeria. The match heralded the first meeting between two English Premier League sides in west Africa, but the 60,000 Abuja National Stadium was less than half full with ticket prices thought to be at an exorbitant premium. Pompey had Nigerian John Utaka on display, but his compatriot, Nwankwo Kanu, missed out due to injury. Imposing central midfielder, Papa Bouba Diop, of Senegal was also on parade, though his regular partner, Ghana’s Sulley Muntari, was absent as he completes his transfer to Inter Milan.

CAF: Champions League Group Stage Begins
Memories will come flooding back for both Dynamos and Asec Mimosas when they meet in this weekend’s opening Group A game of the 2008 Champions League. The duo met in the 1998 Champions League final, where Ivorians, Asec, triumphed 4-2 on aggregate over their Zimbabwean rivals. Although Asec have since turned out such stars as the Toure brothers and Aruna Dindane, it was Ivorian internationals of yesteryear–such as former Ivorian captain Tchiressoua Guel and Donald Sie–who inspired the success. Neither side have reached a final since, although Asec have twice made the semi-finals.
