Is Playboy Going African??

Angel Melaku

Have we said enough about Angel? I don’t think so. She is now the ‘Babe of the Month’ for the month of May in Playboy magazine. Probably a business move by Playboy, and a very smart one at that. She has been taking the internet by storm, particularly since her photoshoot (and video of the photoshoot) in King Magazine. A former video model, she is now making serious waves in her movie, Crazy Like a Fox that is scheduled to come out in the Summer of 2008.

Ida Ljungqvist

She is not the first African to grace the Playboy magazine pages. Ida Ljungqvist from Tanzania is Miss March 2008. She speaks three languages (English, Swedish, Swahili), is extremely well traveled, and has a degree in fashion design. Maybe Playboy has finally realized that Black is where it’s at!! Would be a smart move coz there’s no finer woman than a fine sister! Curves all over!!

Is this a reason to rejoice? Africans should be lamenting instead, these are daughters of the continent selling their bodies just to make money what type of an example is that setting for young africans and even african-americans? Did money blind all our senses?
    It’s time to regroup!

I am sorry but THEY ARE NOT AFRICANS. THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE SEXIEST AFRICAN LIST AND THIS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. It seems like they call everyone African these days. You IDIOTS even had the guts to call Boris kodjoe African. Stupid writers. This is an insult to us Real Africans. The fact that they have African parents, doesn’t make them a little bit African if they have not been born and raised in Africa. JAMATI,YOU IDIOTS ARE STUPID IGNORANT BUFOONS WHO DON’T KNOW REAL AFRICANS. what an insult.!!!
I am so sick of seeing Non-Africans being called Africans ……

    Kim,

What is your definition of an African? Someone like you? I’m curious….Are we so xenophobic that we can’t accept diversity in Africa. Please don’t discriminate…We come in many shades, colours, cultures, etc….You may not agree with her choice to pose for playboy or notice an African accent that you recognize, but that doesn’t make her any less African. I guess if I immigrate to the US and maintain my beliefs and African Accent, I’m less of an American…..hardly.

well i mean, Ida Ljungqvist was born in Africa so that does make her African. Im not sure about the other girl but. . .

Some people need to get it
straight. “African” refers to a native of that continent, not a culture.

How many countres are on that continent? Since this beautiful young lad was born in one of them, I would have to say she is “African”.

To some of you narrow-minded busy-bodies, the word African has only become a hyphenated version of a black person born in the USA.

    Get with it!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! nope playboy will not survive in africa as long as i live. but i love nude babes. i just don’t think it is a good move for africa. maybe solar technilogy should make the move first and when we have enoug dough, playboy can follow as a relaxation loom. but for now a big NOPE!

why should we rejoice for such things.someone is going to objectify the women from our societies and we are happy that they ‘recognize’ african women and their beauty. do we always need these people to validate our existence and worth…..This is rape..and some of our brothers and sisters are cheering it on.shame shame. like Emmanuel Jal sings in his song….Africa is not your w#@re !!

I simply wished to thank you so much once again I’m not certain the things that I would’ve undertaken in the absence of the entire advice shared by you concerning that topic It had been a challenging scenario in my circumstances, however, witnessing a expert fashion you dealt with that made me to jump over delight Now i am happier for this guidance and hope you know what a great job you’re putting in teaching other individuals via your blog I’m certain you have never encountered any of us.
