She was touted as the house gossip in the third season of Big Brother Africa but Ghana’s former rep to the hit reality series, Mimi Abu Adani, is making new waves for herself. Mimi, alias ‘Divalish’, also known as ‘Ghana’s Lady Gaga’, has finally released her ‘Music in Me’ album as a testament to her innate talent and passion for singing.

Introducing actor, Freddie Annobil-Doodo

5733_122098211709_617776709_2798888_5006585_nPromising Ghanaian-born, British actor, Freddie Annobil-Dodoo has had an interesting journey in theatre, film and television so far and he continues to push his ambitions of making it into Hollywood and becoming another household name in acting.

Born to Ghanaian parents in South London, Balham, Freddie grew up in East London, Isle of Dogs. It was at the early age of 14 that he was bitten by the acting bug after watching Eddie Murphy in ‘Beverly Hills Cop’.
Freddie soon developed an intense passion for acting and it was spotted by his then drama teacher and english teacher, who got their departments to pay for Freddie to go to a Sylvia Young Theatre School on weekends for a year. He later got into Seltec College, now Lewisham College, to study drama for two years. There, Freddie learned a lot of Stanislavski, Brecht, and Shakespeare among others, and got hooked on ‘The Method’. » Read more…

MNet launches African Film Library

M-Net has  launched an African Film Library – the largest electronic library of feature films, shorts and documentaries from 50 years of African film production. Over the past three years, M-Net has been negotiating the rights to almost 600 works in English, French, Arabic and Portuguese and digitizing them.

David Mensah out with ‘Music is The Food of Love’

coverUK’s new R&B sensation, David Mensah continues to rise after his song ‘Food of Love’ was released through Universal Music in 2008. ‘Food of Love’ was his contribution to a compilation album called “A Change is Gonna Come” which was recorded to commemorate the 200 year anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade.

Born to a Ghanaian father and a British mother, David draws from an eclectic mix of influences from all over the world when it comes to his music. He has been called the UK version of Avant while others draw comparisons to John Legend. Then again, some people have even mentioned Luther Vandross in their description of the music that he makes. “I never really go in to the studio with a set brief, I prefer to keep an open mind and let the song happen organically. However to someone who has never heard my music I would say that it is soulful R&B with elements of Jazz”, he says. » Read more…
