In an amazing twist, the CEO of the Apprentice Africa switched project managers of both teams in the last task. The project managers were briefed to lead their new teams in designing a functional hotel room that would meet international standards and taste of clientele.
At the end of the task, Zulu Corp, led by Kathleen, impressed the hotel managers the most and therefore won the challenge. The hotel managers felt that the room by Matrix Corp had too much of a feminine touch, and it was too homely and not functional enough. This defeat meant that Omar Bah, the leader of Matrix, had to choose two ladies to join him in facing the boss’ bullet. He chose Eunice and Bekeme because he felt that the two were insubordinate during the task.
The ladies in their defense attacked the leadership style of Omar saying that he was a dictator who didn’t want to take suggestions from any other person in the team. But the overconfident Omar defended his leadership style and in the process it became clear to Mr Biodun Shobanjo that, the girls were right all along. He accordingly fired Omar on the basis that he should have listened to good ideas from his team members.
Omar who grew up in Washington DC and Massachusetts is a professional actor who has worked in theatre, film and television. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and he is a member of the International Trade Association of Northern Virginia as well as a former consultant at the World Bank. When he was fired, he said that he believes that he was not fired because of competence but perhaps because the CEO wanted to even the game up. “I think the C.E.O probably didn’t like the cologne I wore”, he alluded.
