This April, the global news channel, CNN will feature Wangari Maathai, a Nobel peace laureate, Kenyan conservationist and human rights activist. Airing on Wednesday April 15 at 10:30 CAT the program, Revealed, follows Wangari, now almost 70, who continues to travel the world tirelessly spreading her message that global citizens must protect and cherish the planet’s limited resources.
Wangari grew up walking among trees, and today she walks among the world’s leaders. Revealed follows Wangari to London, where she meets British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to launch the Congo River Basin Fund, an initiative aimed at helping combat the rapid deforestation of the rainforest in central Africa.
The British PM introduces Wangari as “a great leader, an incredibly courageous woman, who is an encouragement to anyone who cares about our planet”. Revealed also joins Wangari on a number of projects around the world from Japan to London to Kenya to Washington, where she gives speeches, meets with officials, plants trees with children and delights old friends and fans with her presence, inspiring people to do what they can to “help the planet heal”.
African viewers can tune in for Revealed on Wednesday April 15, (10:30 CAT), Saturday April 18 (09:30 CAT and 20:00 CAT) and on Sunday April 19 (06:30 CAT and 19:30 CAT) on DStv channel 401.
