Nollywood’s ‘Paparazzi’ Premieres in the States.
Syr Law has recently graced the pages of Jamati since her latest role in the Nollywood film, “Paparazzi – Eye in the Dark.” Since January 2011, red carpet premieres for the movie have been showcased around the United States. People sighted at these premieres include Syr Law, Van Vicker, J.J. Bunny, Koby Maxwell, Bayo Akinfemi – the Director, and a host of Nollywood patriots, fans and well-wishers.
The premiere which has taken place in cities like Washington DC and Chicago, was viewed by both Nollywood and Hollywood audiences with over 250 people respectively. The Paparazzi team have been getting exciting feedback so far, especially from people who can’t believe it is a Nollywood film and can’t wait to have it in cinemas.

Breakout Actress To Watch: SYR LAW
You have seen Syr (pronounced s-e-e-r) Law grace the screen in Allen Wolf’s 2009 mystery thriller “In My Sleep” and in Tyler Perry’s 2005 smash hit, “Diary of a Mad Black woman.” Now Syr Law makes her Nollywood indie film debut as the only American actress amongst an all star Nollywood cast. In this romantic, Nollywood murder mystery, PAPARAZZI: Eye In The Dark, Syr Law provides viewers with an undeniably strong performance of a woman struggling to clear her name of a heinous crime she is accused of committing.
Syr Law’s experience behind the camera and the roles she has played has garnered the interest from some of Hollywood’s and Nollywood’s creditable indie film producers. She has been featured and starred in a number of motion pictures. Syr Law also played integral roles in the independent award-winning films: Somebodies which was Sundance Film Festival 2006 nominated dramatic for Grand Jury Prize and BET spun-off into a television series and Dark Remains winner, Best Feature, 2005 Rhode Island’s International Horror Film Festival.

Nigeria’s Next Super Model ‘10 Crowned in Grand Style
On November 26, 2010, at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, Nigeria, played host to a world class array of guest for the 2010 edition of Nigeria’s Next Super Model. The NNSM award running for its fourth consecutive session was a gathering of sophisticated world class industry shakers and movers.
The NNSM is a fashion contest designed to bringing out the best in aspiring models and pushing them to the limelight. So when I heard about the African Fashion, Music and Photography Rocks party in New York,I just had to attend. Due to the fact that the event was on the same day as the Africa Fashion Week NY event, I missed the first part of the event, which featured a mini-fashion show with collections from DC -based Kreatif Designs, Philadelphia-based Roshue Dousuah, and Chicago-based Studio Alade.

Award winning Afro-pop band “Freshly Ground ” is back on the music scene with a fresh new album called “Radio Africa”,which was released on May 1st.The seven member band which hails from various Southern African countries including South Africa,Mozambique and Zimbabwe are currently on a global tour promoting their latest offering,which they describe as “more raw,more african and cohesive..”.
Fela gets 11 TONY nominations.
The exhilerating broadway play ‘Fela‘ has been nominated for 11 Tony awards including “Best Musical”. According to a Press Release via their newsletter, the play which is executive produced by Jay-Z and Will and Jada Smith, is in the running for Best Performance (Lillias White), Best Direction, (Bill T Jones), Best Chereography (Bill T Jones), and more.

The glitzy nominations party brought together some of the crème in the industry from all over Africa to celebrate the growth of African movies in the past year and to observe which movies, actors and technical players were deemed fit by the Academy for laurels this year.
