Uzodinma Iweala’s latest book “Our Kind of People”, is a non-fiction account that introduces us to individuals and communities that are struggling daily to understand both the impact and meaning of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.Date: Friday, July 20th, 2012

About the Speaker
Uzodinma Iweala is an award winning writer and medical doctor. He was a Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard University and is currently working a new novel about Washington D.C. entitled Speak No Evil. His first novel Beasts of No Nation was released in 2005 and won numerous awards including the John Llwellyn Rhys Prize for Best First Novel, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Sue Kaufman Prize, and the Los Angeles Times First Book Award. Beasts of No Nation was also selected as a New York Times Notable Book. He has published numerous short stories and essays. He has recently received a grant that will facilitate the study of narratives of violence and reconstruction in post conflict sub-Saharan African states.
