St Augustine Catholic Church hosts its First Annual Africa and Diaspora Day

The black tie evening extravaganza (traditional attire recommended) features live entertainment from around the globe (Uganda, Kenya, Angola, Brazil, Colombia and more!), international cuisine, an African-inspired fashion show, a silent auction, and a keynote speech by aworld-renown author. The evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies is the dynamic, Liberian-born Emira Woods,an internationally recognized activist and expert in US – Africa relations.A limited number of tickets for the evening

Proceeds will go to support & rehabilitate female victims of femicide (rape and other brutalities) in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and for food aid in Haiti.

Invited guests include Mayor Adrian Fenty, Ambassador Amina Salum Ali of the African Union (confirmed), Councilmember Jim Graham of Ward One DC and Bruce Johnson, anchor for WUSA 9.
