Kenya Music Week 2008

The Fifth annual Kenyan Music event, ” is on” said Mike Strano, Director.

Music Week is a showcase of  music, culture, talent, fashion and various entertainment industries in Kenya. Organized by a group of  Kenyan entertainment stockholders in 2003, the primary goal of Kenyan Music week (KMW) is to improve, develop and publicize local talent. In its fifth installment, the Kenyan Music week is set to attract a large number of exhibitors. Supported by the Kenyan Department of  Culture Music Week provides a means of “learning, organising and motivating.”

2007 event offered educational workshops that aimed to:

* Promote the use of music as an entry point for youth to adopt a positive lifestyle; by encouraging them to start their
own initiatives to improve their community, create a better quality of life and be social entrepreneurs in their own right.
* Highlight the various ways in which the Kenya Music Industry is effecting positive living – be it through using music
and clown therapy to aid in the treatment of children or using music to alleviate poverty.
* Avail information to Artists on how using music for civic education is not only of a social benefit, but can also be a
financial gain to them.
