Jaye Davidson, born Alfred Amey, is an American Oscar-nominated former actor who was born to a Ghanian father and an English mother. Although he was born in the U.S., he was raised in England.
He initially started out in the fashion industry, working as a fashion assistant. In 1992 he showed up on the screen in The Crying Game, a movie about a transvestite, Dil, who inspired two straight men to love him (several men in the audience were inspired too until they realized that he was male). The role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
His second movie was Stargate, where he was the god, Ra. In this role he was an alien masquarading as a god.
He dropped out of the scene and was not seen for a while and then resurfaced as a fashion assistant in London. His was also awarded Best Newcomer (National Board of Review) in 1993.

I remember The Crying Game…it was such scandal…but loved it from beginning to end. Did not know he was of African Heritage?!?!?
