The Kenya International Film Festival, running from October 24 to November 3, 2012, has attracted a great number of entries.

The Kenya International Film Festival has come from a very humble beginning of a small local films festival to an international festival attracting films globally. The festival takes pride in being the fastest growing festival in the region with the potential of becoming the leading festival in Africa. The mission of the festival is to challenge local filmmakers to contribute products which are indeed truly African and can transverse international borders.
This year’s theme, ‘World Classics’, attracted 300 entries from 40 countries. Screenings will be held at the following venues: Alliance Francaise, the Goethe Institute, National Museum, Starflix Cinemas on Ngong Road, and Village Market.
There will also be a special screening of Kenyan classics, including best Kenyan films, Diaspora classics, films made with Kenya as the location, and world classics. There will also be workshops held where artists can interact and discuss issues with performing artists in the region.
