Michael Obiora is Ben in the critically acclaimed BBC Drama “Hotel Babylon”. This talented young man plays a gay receptionist who tries to find his place in a world filled with mixed ideals and morals.
Offscreen, Michael Obiora realizes that his character onscreen has helped him get in touch with his more feminine side. He is more meticulous about his looks and his girlfriend is quite happy with the more sensitive side of him.
His mother recognized his acting ability on a trip to Nigeria when he jumped up and performed to the delight of those who were watching, and she promptly enrolled him in acting school when they got back to England. Obiora first appeared on television at the age of 7 as Max Abasi on the show, Grange Hill.
He later appeared in several theater appearances includingshows at the Royal Court, the Chelsea Theatre, the Soho Theatre and, most recently, his role in the critically-acclaimed West End run of Elmina’s Kitchen. When he is not dabbling in the acting arts, he is busy writing a script, handling real estate, and just doing his thing.
It is a credit to his acting ability that he is recognized around the world as Ben, the receptionist from Hotel Babylon. It will be interesting to see just how he does with his script writing.
