Ibinabo Fiberesima gets 7 years for manslaughter
Former beauty queen and popular Nigerian actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for manslaughter which she pleaded not guilty. She was alleged to have killed a medical doctor in a road accident last year after what investigators describe as “careless” driving under the influence of alcohol.

“SKIN” is a movie based on an extraordinary true story of a colored girl born to two Afrikaner South African parents during the apartheid era. In 1955 Abraham (Sam Neill) and Sannie Laing (Alice Krige) shocked the world when brought into the world a dark skinned baby with nappy hair named Sandra Laing. Shocked at the discovery, and unprepared for the battle ahead, the Laing family fought tooth and nail to have they daughter classified as a white person instead of a black person in order for her to receive better treatment.
Nothing could have prepared the family for the level of unfairness the white people showed to them. After being thrown out of school and isolated because of her skin colour, Sandra felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. ‘Bongfen’ – The story of an African mail-order bride
The Baltimore Women’s Film Festival (BWFF)is scheduled to take place from October 23-25 2009 at the Landmark East Theater. BWFF promotes and highlights films created by and for women. 50% of all the ticket proceeds are donated to breast cancer research and the outreach/survivorship program for Johns Hopkins breast cancer patients.

Introducing actor, Freddie Annobil-Doodo
Promising Ghanaian-born, British actor, Freddie Annobil-Dodoo has had an interesting journey in theatre, film and television so far and he continues to push his ambitions of making it into Hollywood and becoming another household name in acting.
Born to Ghanaian parents in South London, Balham, Freddie grew up in East London, Isle of Dogs. It was at the early age of 14 that he was bitten by the acting bug after watching Eddie Murphy in ‘Beverly Hills Cop’.
Freddie soon developed an intense passion for acting and it was spotted by his then drama teacher and english teacher, who got their departments to pay for Freddie to go to a Sylvia Young Theatre School on weekends for a year. He later got into Seltec College, now Lewisham College, to study drama for two years. There, Freddie learned a lot of Stanislavski, Brecht, and Shakespeare among others, and got hooked on ‘The Method’. » Read more…
