‘How 2 Steal 2 Million’ steals the show

South African Charlie Vundla scooped Best Director and his debut, film noir thriller ‘How 2 Steal 2 Million‘, was named Best Film at the eight Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), held last night, 22 April 2012, at The Expo Centre, Eko Hotel & Suite in Lagos, Nigeria. South African actress, Terry Pheto was named Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film, which also won Best Achievement in Editing (Garreth Fradgely). With four awards, ‘How 2 Steal 2 Million‘ was the most awarded film on the night.

Chet Anekwe upbeat about Nigerian premiere of ‘TOBI’

Award-winning US-based Nigerian actor, Chet Anekwe is expected to join Africa’s A-List of actors and film makers for the 2012 African Movie Academy Awards scheduled for April 22 in Lagos, Nigeria, where he would compete with the likes of Menzi Ngubane, Majid Micheal, Jafta Mamabolo, Karabo Lance, Wale Ojo, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim for the Best Actor in a Leading Role gong.

The 8th Annual Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) will be held on April 22, 2012 in Lagos, Nigeria.  This professional production continues to provide a platform for people to gain access to some of the best and brightest minds in all aspects of film production in Africa today.  This year’s host will be Haitian, Jimmy Jean-Louis of Sinking Sands fame.

Ramey is an emerging artist who is already setting a precedent on the African music scene. Ramey’s nostalgic memories of his homeland the Sudan gives part inspiration for his music together with his experiences of living in America, where he moved as a refugee at a young age.  Aside from the music, Ramey has just wrapped up his first movie role in, “Faisal Goes West” where he plays the main character, Faisal, a refugee who moves to America from Sudan and has to learn to adapt to the way of life. African movie trailers on an Android App

Finally we see an app that links us to some really good African movies.  Afrinolly is an android-based app that provides access to trailers of African movies.  The app is also Blackberry OS (4.6 and above) based and available on Nokia phones (sorry iPhone folks, there doesn’t seem to be anything for you yet).  Afrinolly won the Google Developer Challenge for Sub-Saharan Africa.
