According to Wilson Morales at Black Voices, Djimon Hounsou (Amistad, Blood Diamond, In America) will be featured in the upcoming sci-fi thriller film, Push. Formula X – What Price For A Cure?
It seems that the race is now on to produce movies in several African countries. Formula X is a movie, produced in Kenya, that explores the intricate web of deceit centered around the discovery of a vaccine that could cure AIDS. The main character, Frank (Peter King of the Constant Gardener), a brilliant scientist, takes his secretary, Lisa (Nice Githinji from Benta), home for an afternoon of lustful fulfillment. Unbeknownst to both of them of them, a criminal, Juma (Melvin Alusa), is in the house trying to locate information about a vaccine Frank has discovered known as Formula X.

Chiwetel Ejiofor Picks Up a Monarch’s Award
Earlier in the year we noted that Chiwetel Ejiofor, one of the most versatile and talented actors out there, picked up an OBE award for his contribution to theater. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry established on 4 June 1917 by King George V. The Order includes five classes in civil and military divisions; in decreasing order of seniority, these are:
* Knight Grand Cross (GBE) or Dame Grand Cross (GBE)
* Knight Commander (KBE) or Dame Commander (DBE)

Josephine Ndagno Premieres: Paris à tout Prix
Winner of ADDF 2008 Award for best film directed by a women of color, Josephine Ndagno a Cameroonian – born actress and film director has stolen the lime light at the 16 Annual African Diaspora Film Festival with her recent New York City premiere of her latest film “Paris à tout Prix“, a film about a young woman whose dream is to leave Cameroon and go and reside in Paris.
“Princess of Africa” screens at the African Diaspora Film Festival
So, last Sunday, I decided to check out a film that screened at the African Diaspora Film Festival. The festival, which started November 28th, is scheduled to conclude on December 14th. As I’ve been looking at the festival guide, I have been circling those films which spark my interest. I came across Princess of Africa, which is a film by Juan Laguna, shot in both Senegal and Europe. The film juxtaposes two stories: that of Marem, a 14 year-old Senegalese dancer and Sonia, a Spanish dancer. The two have very different lives, but what links them is Marem’s father, Pap Ndiaye, who is also Sonia’s husband. Pap, however has two other wives, in Senegal, who don’t seem to mind that Pap is also married to Sonia. However, the viewer doesn’t really get an insight into what the Senegalese wives think about the arrangement; I wasn’t really buying that they were okay with this. Mr. Bones 2: Back From The Past
Mr. Bones 2 is a follow-up to the wildly popular movie, Mr. Bones. This South African movie had a very successful sneak preview, showing to a sellout crowd. The story is about Hekule, the King of Kuvukiland who is given a gemstone by the dying Kunji Balanadin.
