This is indeed a GREAT DEAL that many of us Africans have not come to realize. The impact this kind of publicity makes is just mind boggling and we need to recognize its effect onAfrican women as a whole after centuries of being denied such notoriety in such magazene!!!
Regardless of what your feelings are about Hugh Hefner and his magazene, you can agree that he does make a mark on the world scene, and it is about time that African Women are featured in his esteemed magazene!! Change is here indeed! This is a great marketing strategy for Hugh! Can you imagine the “Business” Valu of this one simple decision? Go Hugh!! Now Africa is yours for the taking! There are many more models. You don’t believe me? Call Nancy Anyango at XXXXX! She is undiscovered! be the first to uncover this gem Sarah Jean Underwood, DROOL ON!! Thank you Ida Ljungqvist for opening the door!! You are now among the “FIRSTS”!!! You are beautiful!

I don’t think that this is something to be proud of.The whole playmate idea is disrespectful to women. We,Africans, should rather be proud of Ida for her academic achievements and not for being considered sexy by Hugh Hefner and his associates.

You are absolutely right Dzifa!! It is not my intention to suggest that African women are to be exploited! As a matter of fact, it is quite the opposite! africans have been photographed for many years in the name of “tourism” and yet never benefited from the gazilion African pictures paraded in magazenes; billboards; commercials (and list goes on)!!! I think it is time for Africans to benefit from their beauty, which as I have pointed out has been exploited for far too long!
I am certain that Ida Ljungqvist is a very intelligent woman!! I am also very certain that she is a woman of dignity and respect. I will humbly stand corrected if I am wrong on this.

[...] they are not full-blooded Africans, they are not worthy of the title.  The latest Playboy playmate,Ida Ljungqvist, is half Tanzanian and half Swedish and was born and raised, for a while, in Tanzania, yet people [...]

To Dzifa, Ida made the choice to allow herself to be “exploited” as you put it, just like many of the other women who pose for these magazines. Nobody put a gun to her head and forced her to strip down so why should we care about how she chooses to live her life?
There are way more important things to be worrying about rather than someone like her. She is no more than eye candy for people to gawk at. Word up.
