East Africa to watch Bond movie first
Heineken, a key global partner of the James Bond franchise, will deliver the Bond experience to its East African consumers by simultaneously bringing the premiere events of the movie, Skyfall, on October 25 at IMAX in Kenya, Milimani City in Tanzania and Oasis in Uganda, a week ahead of the global release of the movie.

James Ingram will perform live at the Kasarani Indoor Arena on September 29, 2012.

Maina Kageni will be the Master of Ceremonies, and comedian Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi from Uganda will get the crowd primed for Ingram’s performance. Ingram arrived in Kenya on the 25th, and already has several women swooning and purchasing tickets.

Yao Ming in Kenya to help raise poaching awareness
Yao Ming has just concluded a week long tour through Kenya where he was on a visit to help raise awareness about the effects of poaching. He also got to mingle with the local individuals.
The trip was to help show China’s middle-class population the effects of the ivory-pendant trade that they are so deeply enamored with. When viewing an elephant’s carcass he declined to say too much, stating that he saw ‘evil’ in the killing. Yao previously worked with WildAid to raise awareness about shark fin soup and its effect on the sharks.

Dirk Nowitzki, an NBA player with the Dallas Mavericks, tied the knot with his Kenyan/Swiss girlfriend, Jessica Olsson, in a traditional Kenyan wedding. According to MediaTakeout.com, he delivered the dowry of cattle wearing traditional garb.

‘How 2 Steal 2 Million’ steals the show
South African Charlie Vundla scooped Best Director and his debut, film noir thriller ‘How 2 Steal 2 Million‘, was named Best Film at the eight Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), held last night, 22 April 2012, at The Expo Centre, Eko Hotel & Suite in Lagos, Nigeria. South African actress, Terry Pheto was named Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film, which also won Best Achievement in Editing (Garreth Fradgely). With four awards, ‘How 2 Steal 2 Million‘ was the most awarded film on the night.
