Since the decision to move the Miss World 2008 beauty pageant from Ukraine to Johannesburg, South Africa was made in August by the Miss World organizing committee, it has opened up great opportunities for South African designers like Stoned Cherrie, David Tlale, Gavin Rajah, Marc & Michael, JJ Schoeman, and Palesa Mokubung who were among the top designers selected to adorn the beautiful hopefuls, and showcase their creations.
Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe the chairperson of African Fashion International said that, “The pageant is a great platform for the country’s designers to be able to promote theor work in front of over two billion people.”
The Miss World 2008 is one of the biggest events to be held in South Africa this year and the attraction it has created for the country itself has been very helpful for the 2010 World cup. The widely anticipated pageant is scheduled to take place December 13 at the Sandton Convention Center.
