The Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) awards have grown to be one of the biggest awards in the music industry today. This London-based ceremony is dedicated to music of black origin, from urban to hip hop, R&B, gospel, and reggae. These awards are also a way to acknowledge artsits for their work around the world through their music.
Since their first year, these awards have officially made their mark, bringing together artists from the American, European, and African industry all in one stage. This year Africa is highly represented with more artists nominated. Some have been nominated in several categories.
Ms. mover-and-shaker, Estelle, came up on top with five nominations. Other Africans nominated are Mr Konvict himself, Akon, South Africa’s biggest hip hop artist, Hip-Hop Pantsula, and the newest act, Jozi. Joining them to battle for the Best African Act category are Faze, Asa , P-Square, Wahu, Jua Cali, 9ice, Magic system, and D’Banj Mo Hits Allstars.
Another growing name that is up for some nominations is Tony Kofi and for some reason I think they forgot my husband (wishful thinking), Lemar–lol. I think that all the nominees are winners and they should continue to go out there and represent.
