Mozambiquan, Feliciano Dos Santos won the Goldman Environmental Prize for his songs about HIV prevention, proper sanitation and sound farming techniques.

Dos Santos contracted polio when he was two years old and was teased mercilessly as a child. At the age of 11, he made a homemade brace for himself (without having seen one), and taught himself how to walk. It is fitting that such an independent spirit would be the one to stand up and be the voice of the people. He has participated in the UNICEF project to improve latrines, and has performed in Japan, Portugal, France, and Britain.

For his work, he won $150,00 which is sure to be put to good use.
