Ghanian rapper, Blitz, the Ambassador is making a difference in the music scene in hip-hop battles around the U.S. He has released two CDs (Soul Rebel in 2004 and Double Consciousness in 2005) and is recognized as a talented rapper by both fans and people in the music industry, alike.
Born and raised in Ghana, Blitz came to the U.S. as a teenager, and went to high school, and then on to Kent State University. Influenced by Mos Def, Fela Kuti, Talib Kweli, Miles Davis, and Common, he merges the gap between Africa and the diaspora. A self-dubbed rebel hip hop rapper, he brings social consciousness back to rap, reminiscent of the old-school style. Gifted in gab, he is using his talent to make a difference and make us think about the situations around us. He has a band called the Embassy Ensemble that backs him up on his gigs, an unusual feature in rap shows, but one that clearly emphasizes the business and marketing genius behind the talent.
