The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) promises to be even more exciting this year than it was last year with several exciting performers slated to on the performance roster.

Ugandan R&B divas Blu3 have been booked to rock the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA), the annual celebration of African contemporary music, in Kenya on 10 October 2009.
Also added to the lineup of performers at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain are Lizha James from Mozambique – a hot contender for the Best Female trophy – South Africa’s Da L.E.S (Best Male, Best Video nominee), A.Y. from Tanzania (Best Hip Hop nominee) and Congolese soukous king, Fally Ipupa.
All gal trio Blu3 is riding high as Uganda’s hottest female group, riding high in the Ugandan charts and a regular feature on radio, MTV base and BBC Radio 1Xtra. The group comprises singer/songwriters Mya Baganda, Jacqui Chandiru and Lillian Mbabaz who effortlessly blend Luganda, Swahili and English and melodious vocals into a sophisticated and harmonious R&B sound. As well as performing at the Awards, the trio are also nominated in two key categories in the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain – Best Performer and Best Group.
Blu3, Fally Ipupa, Da L.E.S, Lizha James and A.Y. and join previously announced performers Wyclef Jean, Wahu, Lira, M.I. and Samini at the second annual MAMA awards, taking place at the Indoor Arena, Moi International Sports Centre, Nairobi, airing to a potential TV audience of 1 billion viewers around the world.
The MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain, Road To MAMA and What Went Down TV shows will be aired on MTV base and partner TV stations from 17 October 2009.
