Christine Vaindirlis- A tribute to “Mama Africa”

TMJGIGUALNPS-largeLondon-born, Johannesburg-raised, Milan-trained and New York-based singer, composer and arranger, Christine Vaindirlis is a true globetrotter who’s remarkable journey has always seemed to find its way back to the land that first stole her heart, South Africa. Christine is an artist who has had a profound impact in the  many facets of  the music industry, from being the co- founder of Ubuntu Entertainment; a composer for Deepa Grooves, a New York House Music Label; an assistant manager at Guitar Center; and a Production manager for JSM, a  prestigious music production house also in New York City.  Adding together her string of connections to the music industry its no wonder she is still present and still going strong.

Paying tribute to Africa’s most influential Jazz musicians, Christine is wrapping up the work on her soon to be released debut album, “Dance Mama”; a tribute album to the legendary musicians who paved the way for artistry include Hugh Masekela, Abdullah Ibrahim, Mahotella Queens, Robbie Jansen and the late Mama Miriam Makeba. The most important element of the album is the concept of Ubuntu, a very important word amongst the African culture which means “humanity”. It also means to be considerate, respectful, helpful and trustworthy to those around you.

The album showcases her love for African people from their different cultures, music, and overall creative styles. The album is infused with a mixture of  high energy beats accompanied by the educational messages carried by her lovely voice which has been said to be a bridging gap between the Mahotella Queens and Mama Makeba.

Christine Vaindirlis is an intoxicating artist whose energy will have you confused as to which generation she belongs. Her stage presence speaks volumes, and her love for sharing the culture connected to “Mama Africa” through her own artistry is amazing.

Dance Mama” is schedule to be released in the USA early November 2009 and the anticipation from her fans is great as the history connected to the quality of work she does has always been positive. Below is a clip of Christine performing one of her greatest hit, “Call to freedom”.
