African producers and musicians are reaching out increasingly to collaborate with talent beyond their borders. Weez, from South Africa, has done that and, now, top South African music producer, Dan Tshanda, of Dalom Music Productions, has signed a deal with seven Zimbabwean musicians in an attempt to help them build markets regionally.
The deal is the result of a partnership between Amakhosi Cultural Centre in Bulawayo and Dalom Music Productions. The Zimbabwean musicians are Beater Mangethe, Ugogo, Sandra Ndebele, Amabhoza, Lovecent Mhlanga, Richman Ndebele and Chase Skhuza.
Part of the deal is that the musicians get to perform in tours in Zimbabwe and across Southern Africa, giving them maximum exposure. Hexa Nyathi was last year’s beneficiary of the partnership and he released his debut album in South Africa under the Dalom label.
