Jordin Sparks will be the headliner at the Musical Instrument Museum’s (MIM) first anniversary-weekend on April 29, 2011. Maurice Kirya, winner of Radio France International’s ‘Best New African Artist’ award and Eco News Media nominee, will also perform.
The show promises to be quite an eclectic show with performances by spoken-word artist and songwriter Marshall “Soulful” Jones; Alaska’s fiddling poet, Ken Waldman; the Tetra String Quartet; the Phoenix-based Bad Cactus Brass Band, specializing in Mardi Gras music; the Walt Richardson Trio; and Dry River Yacht Club. Dances will be performed by Grupo Liberdade, accompanying the SambAZ dancers with upbeat Latin American music; five-time world hoop champion Derrick Davis; the Deja Dance Collective; dancers from the Ho’oulu Polynesian Dance School; and the ASU Drum and Dance Ensemble.
Proceeds will benefit the MIM outreach community program. To purchase tickets, or learn more about the event, visit the MIM website.
