Kenya Celebrates a Winner at the International Young Music Entrepreneur Awards 2009

Big Up to Big Kev (Kevin Ombajo), Director of Trueblaq Group, for taking home the award for second place in the International Young Music Entrepreneur (IYME) Awards 2009.

Kevin Ombajo

The IYME award, now in its fourth year, focuses on emerging markets. Nine diverse and accomplished finalists, representing Brazil, China, Cuba, India, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Nigeria and Poland were selected by British Council offices around the world to participate in the program. The finalists traveled to the UK in May to take part in a tour of the UK music industry, including meetings with 4AD Records, Ninja Tune, Blueprint Studios, and SJM Concerts. Their tour culminated at the Great Escape in Brighton where this year’s IYME winner will be announced.

Who went home in first place?  I don’t know. I am only interested in number 2, Kevin Ombajo, Director, Trueblaq Group, a prominent event management group based in Nairobi, Kenya. Big Kev has produces albums for a number of Kenya’s biggest artistes and works to make sure that talented emerging artists have the opportunity to make a living from music.
