Mafikizolo to perform at Blankets and Wine

Blankets and wine is celebrating it’s 5-year anniversary with a two-day, star-laden festival at the Carnivore gardens.

Featuring a very talent-heavy group of singers, this celebration promises to be worth the money.  The festival is Blanket and Wine’s 50th edition which coincides with Kenya’s 50th Independence celebrations.

The performers include Just-a-Band, Sauti Sol, Harry Kimani, Sarabi, Maurice Kirya, Mi Casa, Harry Kimani, Anto Neosoul, The Villagers, Muthoni DQ and Mafikizolo.

Mafikizolo’s song, ‘Khona’, has been a hit in several African countries, with Kenya and Nigeria leading with the largest number of  fans (outside of South Africa). It is on their album, ‘Reunited‘, and won the “Most Gifted Dance Video” at the 10th Annual Channel O Music Video Awards on November 30, 2013. It also won the “Best African Act Video” at the 5th edition of the 4Syte TV Music Awards. Mafikizolo were nominated for “Best African Act” at the 2013 MOBO Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards for ‘Khona‘.

Blankets and Wine started in 2009 and quickly garnered a huge following.  Started to highlight Kenya’s live music scene, the pairing of top African talent with wine has helped showcase the various musical talents of Kenyan and African artists, contributing to a rise in support for local artists.

The celebration is scheduled to take place on January 4 – 5, 2014.  The lineup is as follows:
