The multi talented twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, commonly known as P Square, a Nigeria popular music maestro group stormed The Gambia in a super mega-musical concert at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, The Gambia, on Saturday 16Th May 2009. The concert was organized by War Room and Wax Media and was proudly sponsored by Africell, the biggest GSM company in The Gambia.
The concert was attended by music lovers from all facets of the society of Gambian youth, and a cross-section of West African citizens presently residing in The Gambia particularly from the Sierra Leonean Community and the Nigerian community respectively. The Senegalese, Guinea Bissau and Ghanaian communities were all presented at the Independent Stadium. The concert started withthe performance of various Gambian artists the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., Slam G Clan, Singateh, and The Gambia’s most popular comedian, Lamarana. There were many others, including comedians from Nigeria and artists from Ghana.
Speaking at the concert, Peter Brima, from the Public Relations and marketing unit of Africell GSM Company, said that Gambians need to support and appreciate theirown artists which was why the most popular Gambian artists are allowed to perform first for all to see. It was also why Africell decided to promote this concert because having supported by their own people is the only way that they can move forward and develop the musical industry in The Gambia.

Tension rose when the guest artists (P Square) made their first appearance on the podium on that marvelous night, they are welcomed by a loud exuberant crowd of people at the Independent Stadium. They thrilled the crowd with their foot-patrol, tic-tac and ‘jerk the body’ dancing skills and they performed popular songs like ‘Do me’, ‘No one like you’, ‘Roll it’, ‘Ifunnaya’, ‘Temptation’ and many more.
The exuberant crowd of fans was well entertained by P-Square and it was a full night dance party at the Independent Stadium in Bakau, The Gambia.
In 2001, P Square won the “Grab Da Mic” competition, hence sponsorship by Benson & Hedges of their debut album, titled “Last Nite“, which was released under the Timbuk2 music label. They are managed by Bayo Odusami a.k.a Howie T, a seasoned concert promoter and the CEO of Adrot Nigeria Limited.
P Square has now released their second album, “Get Squares” under their own label, Square Records. This album is marketed nationwide by Tjoe Enterprises, although they are still managed by Howie T of Adrot Nigeria Limited. The video for the second album held the number one position on the MTV Base chart for four weeks. They have an ever growing fan base across the entire Africa. The group has performed alongside a host of international stars including Ginuwine, Sean Paul and Akon.
