Ray-C, born Rehema Chalamila, is at the top of the list for ummm….some pretty interesting music videos. She has more wiggles in her moves than Shakira and Beyonce combined, and she looks good doing it. That could be due to the fact that she took belly dancing lessons (which she must have done really well in).
Ray-C worked as a DJ on a show, Dr. Beat, for Clouds FM Radio station in Tanzania and took vocal training lessons. The only musician to perform Bongo, Bhangra, Taarab and R&B in one album, she is affectionately known as Tanzania’s beauty queen. To date she has released three albums, Mapenzi Yangu (My Love), Na Wewe Milele (With You Forever) in 2004, and Ray-C. All albums have gone platinum.
An accomplished performer, she has won a Kisima Music Award for Best East African Female Artist in 2004 and a Kilimanjaro Music Award for Best Female Vocalist for 2006-2007.
Ray-C has collaborated with several different artists including RF Chord, Temba from TMK Wanaume, and, her latest track, Siangilii Nyuma (I’m Not Looking Back), from the Ray-C album, was recorded with DGrilty (brother of US R&B star, Loon).

Ray C is very controversial. to bring y’all up to speed let me tattle on her drug problem and the fact that, in Kenya, she has earned a reputation of performing below her expected standards. half of the time she is ;ate for her shecduled performances and she gt’s on stage ineberated. of the three shows i have attended the story is the same. ask around

stage performance: lively, worth the entrance fee
personality: contrasting comments recorded during various interviews on radio and tv hints at an unsettled character, unsure about the line between personal rhyth and public exposure.
Appearance: Good, bright skin, young and promising.
Overall rating: 7/10
Advise: RayC is rising well in her showbiz and musical career. She has a lovely voice and needs to focus on making the most out of it. However, she constantly faces temptation of physical exposure for quick publicity given her proper feminine proportions, as well as the challenge of managing personal relationships. Our research shows that, in showbiz, the route of bodily indulgence for commercial gain usually leads to frustration as respect lost is hard to gain. Better stick to the discipline of voice.
