La collection Printemps/ Été 2008 de Matthew Williamson a été accueillie avec applaudissements et critiques. Deux robes de sa collection étaient si similaires à la robe traditionnelle éthiopienne que le Ministère des Affaires Étrangères Ethiopien a dû enquêter à ce sujet. Abdurazak Ome du Bureau de la Propriété Intellectuelle à Addis Ababa a déclaré « Nous sommes très mécontents des actions de Monsieur Williamson. Ces robes sont celles de nos mères et de nos grand-mères. Elles symbolisent notre identité, notre foi et notre fierté nationale. It has been a busy weekend with great showings by some of the teams in the Africa Cup of Nations 2008 games in Ghana. Egypt held Angola to a 3-3 draw and are looking good so far in all their warm-up match ups (crushing Namibia 3-0 on January 5, and beating Mali, 1-0 on January 10).
