From the performances by Natalie Cole, Jesse McCartney, Stevie Wounder, Johnny Gill, Brian McKnight, Chrisette Michele, Katharine McPhee, Ledisi and Africa’s very own Akon, who performed ”Just Go” a song which he originally collaborated with Lionel Richie for his latest album.

The main purpose for this “evening of stars tribute” is to serve as a fundraiser for the United Negro College Fund so liefs can continue to be touched byhelping children in America to further they higher education. » Read more…

The Soweto Gospel Choir 2010 U.S Tour in motion

african spiritI’m proud to announce that the 2010 North America, Soweto Gospel Choir U.S tour is already in motion with performances taking place until the 12 of April 2010. Not only has this choir won a Grammy award and performed at the Oscar ceremony but in my opinion this choir is the most successful African choir by fare.

They have been describes as ” Meticulous and unstoppable, “spirited and spectacular”. “Moving and Inspirational”, “Amassed voices are victorious”, “Sheer jubilation, earthy and unrestrained, the rhythm of life”. sduNew York based ‘Dance New Amsterdam’, presents one of  Africa’s best choreographer Sduduzo Ka-Mbili and his dance company “Juxtapower”, featuring special guest Omar Edwards. This is going to be a four day stage production of song and dance blended with a high energy sketch offering the best of South Africa’s theatrical tradition.

The production will feature Zulu, Gumboot and Pantsula dances, performed by very talented and professional  dancers and musicians from South Africa and the U.S, who promise to take the audience on a journey from the mines to the township, to green pastures of the country side. » Read more…

Mama Makeba

Mama Mirriam Makeba might no longer be with us but her music will forever live on.  Recently Mirriam Makeba’s most famous hit song “Pata Pata” has been featured in the new 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour commercial and ironically enough this is the same and the last song that she performed shortly after her passing in November 2008, in Italy. Surely she is  not forgotten, Lala Ngoxolo (Rest in peace). “Brand New Day” by Jumbo Aniebiet

Jumbo Aniebiet is a native Nigerian Jazz and R&B singer, song writer and producer who’s  biggest tragedy in his life lead to his vocation. Although Jumbo began playing the harmonica at age 6, it wasn’t until the tragic loss of his mother that he developed a stronger passion  for music. Through hard work ,and growth of his artistry, Jumbo’s doors opened up as he worked with great artists such as South African legendary jazz musician, Hugh Masekhela and Nigerian Queen of Soul, Yinka Davis.

Budding US-based Ghanaian fitness and sports model, Evans Amoako is committed to working hard, staying in shape and becoming one of the best fitness models out of Africa. Born in Ghana, Evans was always very passionate about sports. It is therefore no surprise that at age 24 he has been involved in college cross-country, track & field as well as soccer. He has been working out for nine years with dreams of becoming a fitness and sports model, drawing inspiration from fellow models, Obi Obadike and Sebastian Siegel.
