Jamati.com is pleased to announce that beginning, January 27, 2009 our readers will have a chance to win the newly released African Reggae from Putumayo World Music.  Our special CD giveaway event will give our audience a chance to submit the answer to the following question:

“On April 17th 1980, Bob Marley performed at what country in Africa’s Independence day celebration? ”

Upon submission, participants with the correct response will be entered into the contest for a chance to win this exclusive CD. The African Reggae collection is, in part, an homage to Bob Marley’s powerful impact on African music, as February 6th will mark his 64th birthday. African Reggae features selections by outstanding African musicians who have built upon Jamaica’s “golden age of reggae” in the 1960′s and 1970′s by weaving together traditional and modern sounds into a vibrant musical fabric.

Frome Cape Town to Cape Verde, African Reggae is a collection that includes tracks ranging from the hit “Magno Mako” by Ivoriaan Ismael Isaac to Burkina Faso’s Bingui Jaa Jammy, Ghana’s Kwame Bediako to the mystical kora-laced incantataions of Guinea Bissau’s Nino Galissa. Other Featured artists include, Mo’Kalamity & The Wizards, Zoro, One Love Family, Ba Cissoko with Tiken Jah Fakoly, Serges Kassy and Majek Fashek.

A portion of the proceeds from African Reggae will be donated to HOPEHIV in support of their efforts to strengthen the capacity of African children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS.

Jamati.com is excited to be a part of this Putumayo release as they have contributed more than $1 million to an array of international charities working in areas where the music on its CD’s originates.
