In a game filled with many tense moments and lots of excitement, the Kenyan team held their own and went on to win the Tusker Safari Sevens Rugby Championship. Collins Injera played a phenomenal game, scoring four tries that helped Kenya beat the Emerging Boks 40-19.

Homeless World Cup to be held in Milan, Italy
The Homeless World Cup is set to be played in Milan, Italy from 6-13 September 2009. There will be a total of 48 nations competing in the games and the African nations include the Ivory Coast, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, and South Africa. A street soccer stadium built at the Arena Civic, Sempione Park, the historical venue of the very first Italian National game against France, will welcome an estimated 100,000 strong crowd during the tournament week.
Amobi Okoye gives back to Africa
NFL Player, Amobi Okoye, started a project with other athletes called the Athletes in the Diaspora Community Interventions (ADCI) which provides humanitarian support for change on the African continent.
For one of the projects he established, Changing Africa Through Education (CATE), Amobi traveled to Nigeria with several other professional athletes (Adewale Ogunleye, Osi Umenyiora, Israel Idonije, and Ahman Green) to work on programs that included scholarship endowments, soccer camps, clean water programs and, and held five mobile clinics for over 1,000 residents. In addition, medicine was distributed in partnership with physicians from Integris Health of Oklahoma. Other athletes who donated but were unable to make the trip include Nnamdi Asomuga (Oakland Raiders), Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (Green Bay Packers), Akbar Gbaja-Biamila (Miami Dolphins), and Adimchinobe Echemandu (Oakland Raiders). » Read more…
Ade Akinbiyi Houston Dynamo Bound
Ade Akinbiyi is a veteran soccer player who has played for 11 English clubs, including Gillingham, Bristol City, Wolves, Leicester and Stoke. His 16-year career has been quite eventful with him scoring a total of 105 league goals throughout his career. He is currently with Clarets but is hoping to be able to play with the Houston Dynamos this weekend if the transfer paperwork is complete on time.

Players Devasted by Fan Deaths During World Cup Qualifier
Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou expressed shock and disbelief at the extent of fan injuries sustained during a tragedy at yesterday’s soccer match in Cote D’Ivoire against Malawi. A wall collapsed at game kickoff and 19 fans were killed and 130 injured as they tried to flee.

Kenya Places Sixth in Rugby Sevens Game in San Diego
Kenya earned 18 points in the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens Series held in San Diego, California. Kenya lost 7-22 to New Zealand, but beat the other rugby giants, Samoa, 17-12. Kenya had previously beaten New Zealand 24-7 in a historic win on Saturday.
Quest for Dubai Sevens: Kenya Beats South Africa
South Africa’s team were the favorites and the tournament leaders. Kenya has not really considered as a team with a chance against them. So what happened? Kenya was determined to show up strong and increase their chances of making it to the finals in Dubai. They rallied hard and beat them 22-17, ensuring their place in the quarter finals. Kenya will play against Wales on Friday in an attempt to secure a place in the semi-finals.
