Mandela looses great-granddaughter in car crash
Nelson Mandela lost his 13-year-old great-granddaughter in a car accident early Friday. Zenani Mandela was returning home from the opening day festivities of the 2010 World Cup when she was involved in a one-car accident that killed her.

It isn’t everyday that you get to see granny play soccer, but the opportunity will be afforded to many on July 13 – 18, 2010 during the Veteran’s Cup championships in the Massachusetts. The South African team, the Soccer Grannies, has been invited to play in the Veterans Cup and are working fervently to raise the money that they need in order to get to the games.

It seems the South African musicians are unhappy about not being included in the World Cup festivities. Many of the local artists were upset that the lineup did not include more local talent in it’s roster.
FIFA’s Secretary General, Jerome Valke, said that, “This is an international event, we need to attract audiences from around the world with big global names.” The artists were told that the concert was not the only arts event and they had other options for inclusion. » Read more…
Serena Williams opens Another School in Kenya
In November 2008, Serena Williams opened a secondary school in Kenya in her first visit to the country. While addressing the press back then, Serena said she would be doing more of this kind of work in the future. Well the future is here, and she has lived up to her promise. The tennis champ opened another secondary school in Makueni District, Eastern Kenya.
The young and old who turned out for the opening of the school had permanent smiles curved on their faces for they could not hold back their joy of the gift from Serena to a remote area where education is almost a luxury. Serena Williams Wee Secondary School was developed with support from Serena, Hewlett Packard (HP), and Build African Schools, a non- governmental organization dedicated to building and equiping schools for African children. Serena now has two schools named after her in the same region. » Read more…
Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong – The Snow Leopard
Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, nicknamed the Snow Leopard, is on the prowl for a gold in the 2010 Winter Olympic games. He has drawn a lot of interest as an African skiing in the Olympics after his introduction to snow 5 years ago. The Alpine Slalom race is scheduled to take place on February 27, 2010. He will make history as the first Ghanian skiing in the Winter Olympics.
