Adewale Ogunleye | #93 | Defensive End
He is ranked 9th in the NFL with 46 sacks since 2004, and has played in 73 out of 80 career games. With a record 5 fumble recoveries (the best record for a Chicago Bear within a short span), he has proven that he is a player to be reckoned with. Adewale was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted rookie where he led the AFC with 15 sacks, and then was signed to the Chicago Bears for 6 years (the contract ends in 2009). He has proven himself to be an asset for the team, racking up 9 1/2 sacks ( putting him at number 6 in the AFC), and has helped the Bears reach SuperBowl XLI. He is a two-time AFC Defensive Player of the Week (11/17/02, 9/21/03).
Trivia
Born to Nigerian parents, his last name means ‘Iron God’. His grandfather was king of Emure City, and he is dating Sanaa Lathan as of this writing. An all-city selection as a senior at Tottenville H.S. in Staten Island, N.Y. His philanthropic and humanitarian work includes work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Read Across America, and assisting in building houses for Habitat for Humanity. He often spends his days off speaking in schools, visiting hospitals or attending other charity events. His nickname is “Wale.”
