Whew! It was close, but the NFL managed to work out a deal with the players and there WILL be a football season after all. This all starts with the excitement of the NFL draft. We, of course, focused on the Africans that were waiting to see if they would be drafted and are happy to report that there are four new Africans on the NFL roster.
Drafted
1. Prince Amukamara/Nigeria – He was drafted in the first round by the New York Giants and comes from playing for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he graduated with a degree in Sociology.
2. Sam Acho/Nigeria – He was drafted as the 103rd pick by the Arizona Cardinals and comes from the University of Texas.
3. Chimdi Chekwa/Nigeria – He was drafted in the fourth round by the Oakland Raiders and comes from Ohio State.
4. Cheta Ozougwu/Nigeria – He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the seventh round and comes from Rice University.
Prospects
Ladi Ajiboye/Nigeria – He was a strong contender for the defensive lineman position and comes from University of South Carolina
Ugo Chinasa/Nigeria – Another contender for the defensive lineman position, he comes from Oklahoma State.
Congratulations to them all. Hmm…where are all the other African countries? Seems like Nigeria has the NFL on lockdown.
